SPRAVATO

What Is SPRAVATO® (Esketamine)?

SPRAVATO® is an FDA-approved treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression and certain cases of major depressive disorder with acute suicidal thoughts. It is a nasal spray used in combination with an oral antidepressant and is administered in a safe, monitored clinical setting. SPRAVATO® works differently than traditional antidepressants and may provide relief when other treatments have not been effective.

Who is a good candidate?
SPRAVATO® may be an option if you have tried multiple antidepressants without adequate improvement, or if your provider determines you may benefit from a fast-acting treatment approach.

Insurance & cost:
Many insurance plans, including Medicare and some Medicaid plans, cover SPRAVATO® for eligible patients. Our staff will verify coverage and review any potential out-of-pocket costs with you before treatment begins.

FAQ: Will I be sedated or lose control?
SPRAVATO® can cause temporary dissociation or drowsiness, which is why it is administered under medical supervision. These effects typically resolve within a few hours, and you will be monitored throughout your visit to ensure safety and comfort.

What to Expect on a SPRAVATO® Treatment Day

Your comfort and safety are our priority. On treatment day, you’ll arrive at the clinic and settle into a quiet, comfortable treatment room. After checking in with your care team, you’ll self-administer the SPRAVATO® nasal spray under medical supervision.

You’ll then relax in the clinic for a monitoring period of approximately two hours. During this time, some patients experience temporary drowsiness, lightheadedness, or a sense of feeling “detached,” which typically fades before you leave. Your vital signs will be monitored, and a provider will be available throughout your visit. You’ll need a ride home afterward, as driving is not permitted the same day.

FAQ: Will I be alone during treatment?
No. You will be monitored the entire time by trained clinical staff to ensure your safety and comfort.
